STEM ROADSHOW 2023! (Formerly “EYH”)

“EYH” IS NOW “SOUTHWEST NEW MEXICO STEM ROADSHOW”!

REGISTER ONLINE for the Silver City event. (The Silver City event takes place on November 11, 2023. Watch for details about future events in YOUR area!)

For 30 years, AAUW in Silver City, NM, has organized programs that aim to inspire girls to recognize their potential and pursue opportunities in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). In the past, we have held an annual in-person event known as “Expanding Your Horizons” (EYH) on the campus of Western New Mexico University (WNMU). Each year, hundreds of girls from throughout southwestern New Mexico attended the one-day conference with hands-on workshops led by women in STEM fields. Due to pandemic concerns, during the past two years we have provided “EYH in a Box” activities for girls to work on at home, rather than doing a large-scale in-person event. All of these activities have been presented FREE of charge for participating students. For 2023, we are returning to a modified in-person format, and we are changing the name from “EYH” to “Southwest New Mexico STEM Roadshow.”

Our first STEM Roadshow will serve Silver City and several nearby towns; additional Roadshows will be held later in other towns in our region. For the Silver City event, registered 5th- and 6th-grade girls with a signed permission slip will attend an in-person, half-day event on the morning of November 11, 2023, on the campus of WNMU. The FREE event will include several hands-on workshops led by women in STEM fields.

Go to the REGISTRATION PAGE to register online, and then print out a permission slip (students must bring the signed permission slip with them to the event). Call 575-590-1041 if you have any questions!

We plan to bring other STEM Roadshows to southwest New Mexico (e.g. Columbus, Deming, and Reserve) to serve girls in those towns and nearby communities. All Roadshow events will be FREE for participating students! Stay tuned for details…
